The World We Make: 2022 event is open to all donors contributing an annual leadership gift of $1,000 or more to support the Center for Healthy Minds and Healthy Minds Innovations.

Speakers

Richard Davidson

Founder, Center for Healthy Minds, UW–Madison and Healthy Minds Innovations
Davidson is best known for his groundbreaking work studying emotion and the brain. A friend and confidante of the Dalai Lama, he is a highly sought after expert and speaker, leading conversations on well-being on international stages such as the World Economic Forum, where he serves on the Global Council on Mental Health.

Andrew Burroughs

VP of Customer Engagement, Healthy Minds Innovations
Burroughs leads partnerships, collaborations and customer engagement initiatives to cultivate collective well-being. He is a seasoned practitioner of Design Thinking, having led teams in the design of consumer products, award-winning healthcare delivery devices and new services.

Cortland Dahl

Research Scientist, Center for Healthy Minds and Chief Contemplative Officer, Healthy Minds Innovations
Dahl focuses on studying the psychological and neural mechanisms of different families of meditation practice. He is also the creator of the Healthy Minds Program, a well-being training program that integrates insights from scientific research with a comprehensive path of contemplative training.

Simon Goldberg

Faculty, Center for Healthy Minds, Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology
Goldberg uses tools drawn from psychotherapy research to better understand the therapeutic processes and outcomes of mindfulness and meditation. Among other work, he has collaborated on several randomized trials of contemplative interventions and conducted systematic reviews and meta-analysis of mindfulness-based interventions.

Matt Hirshberg

Scientist, Center for Healthy Minds
Hirshberg’s research seeks to understand the competencies that are most essential to healthy development and how these competencies can be systematically strengthened, particularly through in-person and mobile health meditation-based interventions. His research has focused on adolescents, college undergraduates, teachers and other school system employees.

Julie Regina

Experience Design Director, Healthy Minds Innovations
Regina leads design strategy, process and execution. An empathetic problem solver who thrives on building intuitive products and services, she is passionate about making digital products easier for everyone to use, and moves fluidly between research and design – transforming human needs into beautiful design solutions.

Raquel Tatar

Senior Director of Research and Measures at Healthy Minds Innovations
Tatar’s passion for using applied science and meaningful work to help people flourish is the driving force for her to explore the facets of coping with stress, including: proactive coping, misconceptions of coping and their correlates, collective traumas, and longitudinal stressors.

Stephanie Wagner

Trainer and Program Specialist, Healthy Minds Innovations
Wagner is a board-certified health and wellness coach with a passion for mindfulness and meditation. She develops and trains content to help people cultivate habits to achieve greater well-being and is especially skilled on topics related to workplace well-being.

Christy Wilson-Mendenhall

Associate Scientist, Center for Healthy Minds
Wilson-Mendenhall focuses on how we actively shape our emotional experiences to become healthier and more resilient. Drawing on perspectives from situated cognition, constructionist approaches to emotion, and contemplative philosophies, she investigates well-being as an active process of life-long learning, practice, and transformation.
