The average person spends 47 percent of his or her time not paying attention, according to a recent study. There's also evidence to suggest that when we're not paying attention, we're not happy.

This not only plays out in our personal lives, but also in the workplace, where distractions run rampant.

More research is needed to understand well-being in the workplace from a neuroscientific perspective, however decades of research with individuals have provided a place to start.
