Ani Gangtso is an ordained monastic in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition (Ani Gangtso is her ordination name). Before beginning full-time Buddhist training in 2012, Ani Gangtso studied earth sciences and worked as a science journalist and environmental education research consultant. Currently, she is working to develop the Western Buddhist Monastic Initiative, which is focused on supporting the flourishing of a monastic tradition in the West through research and communication.
As an honorary fellow at the Center for Healthy Minds, she brings her background in science research and communication. She also offers her knowledge of contemplative practice to lab meetings and discussions to support the center's research and outreach activities.
