Helen received a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and completed her graduate work with Center Founder Richard Davidson studying the behavioral and neural outcomes of compassion meditation training.

She is a postdoctoral fellow at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, University of California–San Francisco, in the Training in Research in Integrative Medicine (TRIM) fellowship funded by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.

Her research focuses on investigating the impact of meditation training on heart rate variables, studying mindful body awareness with neuroimaging and increasing representation of underserved populations within contemplative science.
