Sydney Tan is a general surgery resident and research fellow at the UW Department of Surgery. She is working with Dr. Simon Goldberg and Dr. Richie Davidson to study using mobile health meditation interventions for medical trainee well-being. She earned her B.A. in Contemplative Studies and M.D. at Brown University, where her study of meditation influenced her desire to become a surgeon. She is interested in implementing contemplative practice into medical and residency training to improve well-being as well as studying how mindfulness-based practices can improve surgical performance.
