Elena's research has focused on executive functions: cognitive control, attention, error-detection, conflict monitoring, goal-directed behavior and planning. She has been studying these processes using neuroimaging (fMRI), eye-tracking and behavioral methodologies.
Recently, she has become interested in neural and cognitive mechanisms of meditation, particularly the effects of meditative and contemplative practices on executive processes.
Our researchers are developing and measuring the impact of video games to help children improve attention and develop pro-social behavior.
