Center for Healthy Minds Ribbon-Cutting Celebration
October 27, 2010
The University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Center for Healthy Minds (CHM) at the Waisman Center will hold its formal ribbon-cutting celebration this Monday, Nov. 1.
The celebration marks the official opening of the facility, the first research center in the world to house both a brain imaging lab and meditation space under one roof. This past year, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama visited UW–Madison to learn more about the center and has since given a $50,000 gift to support its research.
Media representatives are invited to cover the ribbon cutting ceremony, which will include remarks from Center Director Richard J. Davidson and others. There will also be an opportunity to tour the facility and interview Davidson.
The event will be held at the Waisman Center. The reception begins at 5:00 p.m. followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
Davidson will be available from 5-5:30 p.m. for media interviews. Media parking is available in Lot 82 near the Waisman Center.
Interested media representatives should contact Mel Charbonneau, Center director of communications and marketing, by Sunday, Oct. 31, to ensure access to the event. Interview time with Davidson is limited. To confirm availability, you must contact Charbonneau in advance of the event.
