SCIENCE
How can we strengthen the ability to flourish - in individuals, communities and for the planet?
Experts and leaders in their fields come together at the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, one of the world’s top research institutions, to investigate questions like this.
Known for our foundational research on the neuroscience of wellbeing and the impact of contemplative practices like meditation on the brain, the Center uses tools, methods and approaches that bridge psychology, neuroscience, psychiatry, education, humanities, genetics, molecular biology, economics and more.
Over the past decade, our work has consistently been supported by the world’s top funding agencies, foundations and organizations, which speaks to the innovation, rigor and critical need of the Center’s scientific research. Some of these organizations include the National Institutes of Health and its subsidiaries, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and Templeton World Charity Foundation. For a complete list of recent federal sponsors and private foundation support, visit our Give page.
The vast scope of science coming out of the Center is a reflection of the people who lead it. In exploring the profiles of our scientific leaders at the Center, you can learn more about key questions that are at the focal point of their work through bios, news articles and publications. Some experts also have websites for their labs and programs that we invite you to explore.
