Irene is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology. Their research examines suicidal thoughts and behaviors as lived, dynamic, and heterogeneous experiences. Specifically, they seek to understand how people differ in how they experience and respond to suicidal thinking, and how these differences relate to short- and long-term suicide outcomes. They pay particular attention to emotion regulation, interpersonal contexts, decision-making, and moment-to-moment change during suicidal crises, with the broader aim of reducing suffering during periods of acute vulnerability.
Equity, community engagement, and implementation are integral to Irene's work. They examine how well current theories and models represent minoritized populations, why gaps arise, and how to improve assessment and care. They are committed to developing digital interventions in partnership with communities. Their goal is to translate research into accessible clinical tools that empower minoritized individuals and promote wellbeing in everyday life.
